The prompt for the paper is:
1) Specific 3 examples of how lean has been applied from the video and class discussion.
(2) present examples of how successful companies have implemented lean or TOC to improve their operations based on recent news/journal reports and library research (that is cited at least ONE recent news/journal article or research article about lean systems or a company using lean).
3) Using the operations frameworks or tools that we learned in the class, identify three metrics that could have been used to understand the NUMMI plant operations strategy and save the plant or improve its operations. Just defining the framework or tool earns a minimum point.
For example – one of the metrics is capacity utilization and utilization is the rate at which inputs are transformed to outputs. This will not earn a minimum point. You need to explain how the capacity utilization concept can be implemented for the NUMMI plant and would have helped the plant.
