Please read the instructions named “Guided Essay #2” so you understand the assignment. I am providing you with my class textbook named “The Beginning of Western Science” which is attached below, you will read chapters 7, 9, 10, 12, and 13. You will also read the Henry, Ibn Sina, and Philoponus readings and all are attached below. I will also be giving you 2 powerpoints as well please read and go through them. I am providing you with a lot of sources to write this essay so please go through everything provided. This is an argumentative essay so the question asks you to take a stance as either Yes Scholasticism SHOULD be considered scientific, or NO Scholasticism should NOT be considered scientific. Go through the sources and pick a side and provide evidence based on your stance. Do not flip flop back and forth between one side or the other make sure that once you choose a side to stick with it and make sure you have appropriate evidence to back up your argument. This is APA format so please have a bibliography at the end but also you must use in text citations! This is very important: if you are taking evidence from somewhere PLEASE make sure you reference it with in text citations or else it’s plagiarism.‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍ So make sure that whatever evidence you take from the sources that it’s backed up with in text citations. When doing in text citations use the page number that is shown on your screen, please make sure that the sentence you take matches up with the correct source and page number! Whatever argumentative side you take for the essay take the appropriate evidence from the sources that goes with whatever side you chose. Don’t just take anything you feel like from the sources, take the things that number 1 have to do the topic and number 2 have to do with the side you choose. This essay needs a thesis statement that is a must!!! I hope you know what a thesis statement is because every writer knows what a thesis statement is. If somehow you don’t know what a thesis statement is let me explain. It is 1-2 sentences talking about the main points you will be talking about and arguing for. Then when you write the essay those points you mentioned in the thesis will be shown and discussed in each paragraph. So the first point you mention in the thesis for example will be discussed and argued in the first paragraph, the second will be discussed and argued in the second paragraph, and so on… The thesis needs to be very strong and succinct!!!
