Assignment: You are to write an 8- to 10-page, double-spaced research paper on one of the topics we discussed in class. You are to consult a minimum of 5 outside scholars to support your argument, but you may consult more if you wish.
Perfect Score=100 Points
Introduction—-Perfect Score=20 points
Give the reader enough background information to understand what the paper is about.
Have a thesis statement or thesis idea somewhere in this first paragraph or two. For an 8-10-page paper, you may need to write more than one paragraph to introduce the topic or situation. The thesis is a premise or an argument. You make a statement and set out to prove it is true.
Body of Paper—–Perfect Score=20 points
Organized and easy to follow
Correct use of MLA or APA styles to present information from scholarly works you have researched
Appropriate quotations from the text itself and from your research about the story that support the points you are making
Conclusion—Perfect Score=20 points
Come to some conclusion about your topic. Did you prove your thesis to be correct? Does more scholarly work need to be done on this topic? Say so. Come to some sort of conclusion. Don’t just stop writing.
Correct Use of MLA or APA Citations and Bibliography or Works Cited Pages—Perfect Score=20 Points
Do you use the correct citation form on the Bibliography or Works Cited pages?
Do you incorporate other scholars’ quotations into your own sentences? Are the sentences you write using your scholars’ quotations correct sentences? No fragments, run-on sentences, etc.?
Correct Grammar, Sentence structure, punctuation, spelling—all mechanics and standard English. No contractions, no slang, —Perfect Score=20 Points
