My dissertation topic is – We Shall Overcome: The Lived Reality of a Black Woman

My dissertation topic is – We Shall Overcome: The Lived Reality of a Black Woman Opening a Government-Funded Group Residential Facility (GRF). My dissertation will critically narrate the pride and pain of opening and running a government-funded group home. The misogynoir, disdain, resistance and delays experienced during the process provided the platform for this narrative. Using a Black female standpoint lens and ‘blackgirl’ autoethnography (as my method) I will characterize the organizational and political dynamics which deterred the process of opening the group home. I position faith-based leadership as the impetus for surviving the racism, sexism, and classism.
The review of literature will focus on theories that can be applied to Black women’s lives; 1) intersectionality theory; 2) Black Feminist theory; and 3) Black (Afro American) women Faith-Based Leadership. The third body of literature I want to see if there are any commonalities with Black women coping strategies in regards to these key words: faith, God, church, spiritual, religion, etc. I am providing some articles I found that will support the angle of review.
I DO NOT NEED AN INTRODUCTION (I’m going to write it).
I need to have three bodies of literature to examine. Each body of literature should include at least 4 – 8 key scholars/studies, depending on the amount and importance of scholarship in each area. The bodies of literature must be in order of significance and the number of pages and number of pages and articles can increase with each body. The order of significance for the bodies of literature are: 1) intersectionality theory (5-6 pages; 4 to 6 articles; 2) Black Feminist (or Womanist) theory (6-7 pages; 5 to 7 articles) and 3) Black (Afro American) women Faith-Based Leadership (7-8 pages; 6 – 8 articles). Again, the third body should be focused on coping mechanism Black women use in leadership.
I want as many articles as possible written by Black women.
EACH BODY OF LITERATURE MUST DO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:
What do scholars/scholarship from this perspective have in common? What are the main ideas, perspectives, epistemologies, and/or methodologies among the articles?
What are the key contributions of this scholarship toward understanding the topic?
What are the limitations of this scholarship toward understanding the topic?
The conclusion recaps the literature, highlights any gaps and specifies where one’s proposed research project is located within the literature (1 -2 pages).
