Learning Goal: I’m working on a health & medical discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.-This report is attached as a first draft and it is halfway done (around 1400 words), the data was collected and the hypothesis was tested. The report needs more elaboration to support the data analysis with more literature review and contributive discussion. -The total word limit is between 4,500 – 6,000 –-Make sure to paraphrase and cite references correctly to avoid plagiarism, the work will be checked via Turnitin.-Use UK spelling -The title page, figures, figure legends, tables, and references do not contribute to the word-count and should be placed in text boxes. If the text boxes need to be longer than a page, use a different text box for each page. • Line numbers must be shown. The reference list must be at the end of the document.
You should NOT place the results text within a text box
Please use Vancouver style for referencing
Here is a guide to improve the first draft.Title & Abstract Choose an appropriate title for the work; and abstract of around 300 words. Abstracts should lay out the overall purpose of the study and the research problem(s) you investigated; the basic design of the study; major findings or trends found as a result of your analysis; and a brief summary of your interpretations and conclusions. Introduction & Hypothesis (include good literature review and referencing to backup your statements) This should provide a background to the subject area including key / seminal references, which have led you to your hypothesis, and show your understanding of the Foundations module. Don’t forget to state your aims and a hypothesis. Your hypothesis should be the thing you are investigating within the experiment. By the end of your report you should be able to either accept or reject your hypothesis. The aims are derived from the hypothesis and can be less specific and do not have to have an outcome that is completed by the end of the experiment. Methods This should outline the details of the equipment used (e.g. ECG etc.), Software and filtering parameters (PowerLab, ECG Band Filter) plus a summary of the protocol. You will be using statistical tests to see if any significant differences between the data-sets you have recorded. State which test you are using, the package you have used to perform the test and what your significance threshold is. Results Present the results obtained from the experiment in the format you think will allow the reader to best visualize what you are trying to show e.g. figures & tables. This should be accompanied by descriptions of the trends within the text. Remember to reference all figures and tables in the text. If you have rejected any data think about why you have done this and if the data you have collected is representative (NB: If you encounter a problem then you should report that this is the case – not reject the data). Discussion & Conclusion (most of the word count should be here with good literature review and referencing to backup your statements) Start by stating your main findings (these should address the question/aims/hypothesis at the end of the introduction). It is generally a good idea for the Discussion subsections to mirror that of the Results. Next discuss any differences you see between your data and that of the published literature. Suggest how errors could have occurred during the experimental process and subsequent analysis that affect the validity of the results. Was your data significant and representative of the wider population? Could confounding variables have influenced your data and if so in what way? Extrapolate the findings and describe how it is linked to what you have learned in the Foundations module. Your conclusion should consist of one or two sentences stating whether or not the results corresponded with your hypothesis and if not, why you think this was the case. Also include a suggestion for further, and/or follow-up studies and any limitations. Formatting and Referencing Use referencing software to create your reference list such as Mendeley. References should be at the end of the document inside a text box and titled with the word “References” (without the quotation marks). Please use Vancouver style for referencing. If you have any questions regarding the test or the hypothesis please let me know.
