Assignment: What is an Annotated Bibliography
An annotated bibliography is an alphabetical list of resources with a concise description of the resource and some comment on its value or relevance. An annotated bibliography summarizes, analyzes, and synthesizes a resource.
Here are a few points to consider when writing your annotated bibliography:
content of the resource
usefulness and/or scope of the resource
limitations of the resource
reliability and/or credentials of the author(s)
intended audience
significant or special features of the work
How to Write an Annotated BibliographyDirections:
Please create an annotated bibliography with two (2) articles relevant to any of the T The Afterlife or Discussion TedTalks. we’ve completed in class: adoption, foster care, family, horticulture, plant science, small business, love, mental health, teen-suicide, teen-depression, teen-angst, peer-pressures (and/or any key terms you can find indirectly related to the novel).
Each annotated bibliographical source should include the following information:
Citation: Accurate and appropriate citation format of each source based on your disciplinary field (i.e. APA format).
Paragraphs:
Summary (7-12 sentences): What is the main idea? What are the major details? What evidence is provided to support the main idea?
Analysis (7-12 sentences): Find a keyword and define it: based on the article, how is the word explained, defined, presented?
Synthesis (7-12 sentences): means comparing different material and highlighting similarities, differences, and connections. When a writer synthesizes successfully, they present new ideas based on interpretations of other evidence or arguments. How does this source connect with “The Afterlife” by Gary Soto; OR any of the Discussion Ted Talks we’ve watched in class (or other ones you’re familiar with)?
