you will want to revise the title “fail stigmatization” this does not make sense “causes more concerns” — vague various demographics — like what? look this up and include some data. use a reputable medical source. there is no thesis statement Goffman — the citations are incomplete. I do not know what source you are using, but you should be using the assigned chapter, which is dated 1963, not 1986. references need formating to not mention your stigma in the summary of stigma you used Goffman’s exact words without using quotations. this will earn that section a zero. the summary of stigma theory should be only 1 paragraph. this is an okay start, but it needs revision and editing. cases — too long, should only be one paragraph. this should be about half this length, about half a page. use man not male analysis — the first statement needs a citation. you should consult a medical source for symptoms. there are valid reasons to stigmatize someone. it is not about misconceptions. you can discuss that at the end if you wish. the analysis does not analyze the cases. instead, it seems to be based on secondary sources. the analysis has no points about stigma, most likely because it is based on secondary sources and is not actually an analysis. instead, make points about how depression is stigmatized. the first two sections need serious revision, the analysis will need to be rewritten to earn a passing grade.

This week we will be continuing our discussion on race, racism, and racial justice in the U.S.  Please pay close attention to our Discussoin Board Part I and Part II – as it is a bit different than our usual discussion of readings.———————————————————————————————- that when working on assignments – you want to inlcude as many specfic examples and details from the content as possible.  The more details (paraphrased) you incoporate in your writing the more it demonstrates that you have immersed in the assigned material and have thoughtful things to say about it.     
Parts I and II (initial posts worth 10 points each) will be responses to two posted questions relating to course materials for the week. Each response for Part 1 and II should be around 300 words and is due on Thursday each week.  You must include examples and details found in the readings and other course content from the week.  DO NOT use quotations – rather paraphrase the information, writing it in your own words and citing the reading / video. You MUST cite any information that comes from your text.  In-text page number citation ex: (p. 243) will suffice.  Place citation at the end of the sentence where you’re discussing details from a given article (p. 214). As you’re looking for sources – think through how race intersects with gender, class, age, etc. In AT LEAST 300 words – introduce the source that you are sharing with us.  Discuss why it is relevant / the value that it holds for our class in genral and for the pursit of social justice.  Point out specific elements that you would like your colleagues to pay attention to. —–

.What factors have contributed to the stereotype of the model minority? How is the model minority concept harmful to Asiam Americans?

The Thomas Theorem states that if individuals define situations as real, they are real in their consequences. What this means is that people’s behavior can be determined by their subjective construction of reality rather than by objective reality. There are many ways to illustrate this concept. In the recorded lecture for this chapter, l argued that when a person yells fire in a theater it will cause panic whether a fire exists or not. The panic in this case is caused by a subjective construction of reality (somebody yelling fire) rather than an objective reality (an actual fire). Similarly, if somebody were to consistently watch news reports featuring violent crimes, they may go out and purchase an alarm system, iron bars for their windows, a large pit bull, and a weapon to protect themselves because they think that they may be a victim of violent crime. Violent crime may actually be decreasing in their city or neighborhood, but to them it doesn’t matter because their behavior has been shaped by a subjective construction of reality (news reports that focus on violent crimes) rather than objective reality (decreasing violent crime rates). What are some other social situations where people act a certain way based on a subjective construction of reality rather than objective reality?

Family history essay (25 point)
How do historical and social forces intertwine with individual experiences? This assignment asks you to engage this question through a look into your family history. In this essay, find a story in your history of your family that demonstrates the links between individuals and society. The story can be about the experiences of your immediate family members or more distant and even deceased figures. I encourage you to talk to family members to discover more.
The primary objective of this assignment is to apply sociological understanding as we just described. A secondary goal is that you hopefully develop a better understanding of your family. The story does not require a specific formula, but you should do your best to demonstrate the links between individuals and social forces.
If you need ideas, common examples of social forces include events (economic shocks, wars, migration), changing economic conditions (economic restructuring such deindustrialization, the rise of a new industry), or cultural shifts (social norms of different times). Some stories also benefit from you doing additional research to better situated the individuals you write about in their times.
Assessment
Your essay will foremost be evaluated on how well the story situates individuals in the broader social context. A good essay should clearly present the topic and the context, introduce the relevant historical and social forces, and detail how the individual intersects with the forces. General rules of writing apply.
This is a formal assignment.  It requires an organized paper structure with multiple paragraphs. To the extent possible, the writing should be free of mechanical, grammatical, or spelling errors.

Read “Ten Things You Can do to Improve Race Relations” by Charles Gallagher (pages 464-467 in Rethinking the Color Line) and “Talking is Great, But What Else Can I Do?” by Ijeoma Oluo (pages 225-238 in So You Want to Talk About Race.)
