At this point, we will finish up Part II of the textbook this week. These chapters provide the foundation of how international law is created and how states, international organizations, and non-state actors interact.
Please write a 1,500 – 3,000-word essay on the Parts I and II of the textbook. You do not need to go any outside sources for this Essay. In fact, I want you to stay within these first four chapters.Do not forget to cite to the text when you should. What I really want is for you to understand just how difficult it is to get things done on the international stage because I feel it will inform your sense of when you think justice has been done or if the system is flawed in some manner.
Everyone’s essay should include the different ways international law is created (as described in the text but in your own words as to how you understand the principle at issue) and then you choose the specific issue you want to write about within those four chapters (such as Assange) and explore whether you think justice is being served or whether you think there is a flaw in the system. If you can think of any solutions, even better!
There is a rubric for scoring in the rubrics tab. It will be used for both essays.
Please do not forget the University has writing resources and the folks at the writing lab are great. I am here to help you all and so are they. So, if you want an extra pair of eyes to help you out, please reach out to the writing lab!

Assignment Details
A recent event has caused uproar in demands for law enforcement to be attentive to activities that could lead to terrorism or gang activity. Race has been a source of controversy because of the stereotypes and labels put on individuals from certain races and religious backgrounds.
Opinions about issues in society are often the catalyst for the foundations of social change. The combined opinions of all individuals determine society’s position on an issue. Because criminal justice professionals have a first-hand view of the individuals who will be affected by the change, it is particularly crucial that they develop and advocate a position on an issue.
Using the library, Internet, or any other available materials for adequate, accurate, and relevant support, address your position on this controversial issue.
Propose 2 strategies for dealing with law enforcement subculture and racial profiling. One strategy is to be from an ethical perspective and the other should be in terms of keeping societal opinion from making significant changes in the functioning of systems and society as a whole.
