Week 6 Post
As we have been discussing in our course so far, families are often shaped and affected by changes in other social institutions, especially the economy and government. These social institutions profoundly affect individuals’ rights and opportunities. In particular, laws, policies, and social structures at various levels (e.g., local, state, national, international), play a significant role in individuals’ future life chances.
This week, we will be examining the impacts of some particular laws and public policies that affect families. Understanding these laws and policies, and their impacts, can make it possible to imagine how they can be changed to benefit families.
In what ways can government policies be used to support families? Identify 5 specific policies from this week’s Learning Resources that could be enacted to support family life at any particular level (local, state, national, international). Briefly explain why you think that each policy would be important and what its impact could be.
To help make your post easier to read, please number your policies from 1 to 5.
In your response, please refer specifically to at least two of this week’s course Learning Resources, citing them in the text and also listing the full reference information at the end of your post, using APA citation style.
Provide your initial post by 11:59 pm on Sunday. Your initial post should be at least 200 words in length, excluding the discussion prompt and the references. Please use in-text APA citations within your post as well as full APA references at the end of your post.
Peer Responses: Respond to at least two classmates’ initial posts by 11:59 pm on Tuesday. Posts must be at least 100 words in length and demonstrate critical thinking, engagement with course material, and a meaningful attempt to engage in discourse.
You must start a thread before you can read and reply to other threads
