As part of our “extreme scaffolding” for PHASE II: The Annotated Bibliography & Synthesis assignment, you will be submitting the “annotation” portion of the assignment here, as a Word doc attachment, for peer review with your peer-review partner.
Do NOT copy and paste your whole assignment in the text box below!
This module is for organizing attachments and submitting peer-review comments as replies. If you do not have a previous peer-review partner, email me for instructions.
Objectives Objectives
The assignment is to compose two paragraphs (1 summary and 1 context) for each of the secondary sources you cited in APA last week. Once revised, these paragraphs and your citations will become the “annotated bibliography” part of your Annotated Bibliography & Synthesis major assignment, allowing you to focus on writing the synthesis next week.
You may choose different sources if your topic has changed or you find better ones, but by the end of this assignment, you should know which sources you plan to use to frame the majority of your research project.
If any of this leaves you feeling lost, and if your project partner can’t help you feel on track, reach out to me. Let’s talk!
Reminder Remember
Revise your APA citations which should include up to 3 theoretical-framework readings previously assigned in this class and at least 3 additional, relevant, and scholarly readings of your choice in accurate APA format.
By referring to the APA references provided on the Annotated Bibliography & Synthesis prompt, and through discussion with your project partner, your citations should be fairly accurate by now. If you do not believe they are, consult the previously assigned pages of the EasyWriter, the OWL@Purdue, (Links to an external site.) or the APA Style Blog (Links to an external site.). The UWC Writing CenterLinks to an external site. can also help, and I offer extra credit for UWC attendance.
Remember to double-check capitalization, italics, first initials, and URL formats. That’s where I’m seeing the most APA errors.
Discussion Reply to Peers
At this point, your citations should be taking shape. If they are not, let me repeat: You have resources (not excuses!):
Textual resources (the Easy Writer),
Web resources (the OWL@Purdue (Links to an external site.) and the APA Style Blog (Links to an external site.)),
Expert resources (the UWC Writing CenterLinks to an external site. and me), and
Human resources (your project partner).
Continue to work with your project partner from previous activities. You should also feel free to share citation resources and other support in your comments, below.
You must peer review your partner’s work. This means that you must help each other get these right.
Also, review and bookmark your EasyWriter on annotated bibliographies for guidance (pages vary depending on edition).
Do This Your Prompt
DO THIS:
Submit six complete annotations, each including one citation, one summary paragraph, and one context paragraph–IN THAT ORDER.
You must have 2 paragraphs per citation (12 total).
That means:
Six revised APA citations, each followed by
One paragraph summarizing the source, and
One paragraph describing how the source is useful to your research project.
Does it help create a scholarly conversation you are joining?
Does it affect your plans for data collection?
You should revise and use your paragraphs from earlier annotation assignments.
In reply to your project partner, give specific feedback about how to improve clarity of purpose, clarity of writing, and/or formatting issues.
Feedback does not have to be extensive, but it must be helpful.
DON’T DO THIS:
Submit incomplete annotations.
Forget to peer review.
Just tell your peers that they did a good job. That does not help them revise or improve. Tell them how to fix or improve something!
Content: These annotations will contribute to your content for The Annotated Bibliography & Synthesis. Peer review of your posts keeps everyone accountable for writing and revising on schedule and with their audience in mind. Take the time to write a thoughtful draft and give meaningful feedback.
My subject is in the attachment,Thank you.
