Theory Paper
You must write an original, scholarly paper addressing a topic relevant to the course. In the paper, you must complete a personality analysis of an important historical or contemporary person or a self-analysis by applying the theories studied in this course. This assignment is worth 280 points. The paper should demonstrate critical thinking skills commensurate with advanced levels of scholarship, such as evaluation, analysis and synthesis.

Content
As complete a picture as possible of the person’s behavior (introverted, impulsive, etc).
As much of the person’s developmental history as possible that may be related to current personality characteristics. As an example, from a social learning perspective, one could infer timid behavior on the part of an adult female due to modeling the same behavior she observed in her mother. Or from a Freudian point of view one could view hoarding behaviors in adult life as reflecting fixation at the anal stage of development.
A thorough review of the theories you choose and their specific application to the personality you choose.
For those choosing the self-analysis, it may be necessary to interview significant others (parents, relatives, etc.) to get a full picture of early development.
Mechanics

Any position statements must be defended (i.e., substantiated) with research-based evidence and well-thought logical arguments. Note that a personal opinion is not considered a logical argument or empirically derived position. 3 to 5 scholarly sources (which may include the text) must be referenced.
The paper should be double-spaced, using a 12-point font size and a common font face, such as Times New Roman.
The paper length is a minimum of 7 pages TOTAL. The body of the paper should be a minimum of 4 pages in length, excluding the title, abstract and reference pages.
