Develop a list of two tasks to further your research and submit one to two pages (250-500 words) about your discoveries. This is your opportunity to think outside the box; in other words, to think creatively.
The purpose of the two tasks is to allow you to do research beyond standard bibliographical research, just as you have seen in the work we’ve read by Anthony Doerr (“Thing with Feathers” and Dani Shapiro’s book Inheritance.). Here are examples of things you might do:
1. Investigate the outside of a building (for example, where a family member was born) and describe it with new eyes.
2. Contact a family or community member and ask questions about your topic.
3. Perform a google or youtube search for sources on video or sound related to your research.
4. Take video or sound of a person or thing relevant to your research.
5. Investigate artistic sources relevant to your research.
6. Consult family documents (letters, journals, diplomas, certificates) and unpack their meaning.
This is a requirement. Then I’ll send you the previous general content and theme. The general theme is the influence of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. The choice of artists can go to Chinese artists. It’s best to have a few photos of their works.
