Your assignment is to re-create one of the experiments described in Chapter 1 or 2 of your textbook. You can be the subject of the experiment, or you can recruit a friend or family member as a volunteer. This assignment is deliberately open-ended; the goal is for you to use creative thinking, reasoning, and problem solving (fundamental aspects of cognition!) to figure out how to satisfy the requirements. Some of the experiments in the chapter might be easier to recreate, some might be harder. What you choose might also depend on what skills you have and materials you have around you to work with (programming something in Python, making pen-and-paper flash cards, having a friend or roommate help you out, etc.). In the process you will also gain a deeper understanding of what it means to conduct research in the field of Cognitive Psychology. Please give me a five-minute powerpoint and a transcript (around 2 pages transcript) Your presentation should include the following elements: — Methods o Example: What tools/materials did you use? What procedure did you carry out? Etc. — Results o Example: What were the results from your experiment? Did it differ from the original version? — Conclusions o Example: What do you conclude from the experiment? Why did the original experimenter carry out this experiment in the first place? Why do you think it was it described in chapter 1 of the textbook?
