For this project you will research, analyze, and describe the strategies of a Multinational Corporation (MNC) to pursue international business opportunities outside the United States. Purpose: To research, analyze, and describe the strategies of a manufacturing Multinational Corporation (MNC) headquartered outside the United States and make presentation. Content and focus: Type of company The MNC strategy project involves researching and analyzing a manufacturing or services corporation located outside the United States. (Please note that financial/bank or oil and petroleum corporations or MNC’s that focus solely on franchising cannot be included. In addition, companies that cannot be selected include those companies included in the case studies or are described in detail in the text (such as Siemens, Nestle). Process: Select a company Lists and information about the leading MNC’s can be found at: Global 500 https://www.ft.com/ft500 Annual report It is recommended that the research starts with the MNC’s annual report and includes research from at least 3 other sources. Content: The project must include a description of the MNC’s strategies using the understanding and knowledge gained from the class and the textbook and must be supported by data and evidence gleaned from the research to support the analysis. The project must include a description of the: MNC’s corporate strategy (Chapter 13), MNC’s Organizational strategy (Chapter 14), MNC’s Market Entry and Strategic Alliance strategy/strategies (Chapter 15) One or more MNC management strategy as described in Chapters (Chapters 17-20). Examples of MNC strategies that could be selected include: Global Production, Outsourcing, & Logistics strategy (Chapter 17); Global Marketing and R&D strategy (Chapter 18); Global Human Resource strategy (Chapter 19); Accounting and Finance strategy (Chapter 20) Rubric for Foreign MNC Strategy Analysis Assignment (Written – 100 points) 5 POINTS: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY (Overview, Summary of Analysis) The possible maximum points that can be earned for the executive summary is based on the extent to which, it reflects the most important contents of the presentation. The executive summary of the MNC strategy analysis should be brief 200-500 words and include: the name of Multinational Corporation (MNC), a list of primary products or services, a mention (without explanation) of MNC’s International Strategy (Chapter 13), Organizational Structure (Chapter 14), Market Entry Strategy (Chapter 15) and one other functional strategy from Chapters 17-20 (Marketing, Human Resource Management, Global Production, Outsourcing and Logistics, OR Accounting. 5 POINTS: INTRODUCTION Explained the nature of the MNC’s business, products or services to provide the context for the analysis (5 points) (Only providing a list of data/information not tied to analysis would be worth 1-2 points) 80 POINTS: CONTENT (Findings, analysis, conclusion, recommendations) Possible maximum points that can be earned based on breakout below: 20 POINTS: Chapter 13: Strategy Selected appropriate strategy and explained strategy using data from research to support the analysis.
