Understanding the two major types of Creative Essays—Braided essays and Lyric essays—pick one piece of art OR the work of one artist to use as a focal point for a creative essay. Next, choose what type of essay you would like to try to compose. Use that artist or artwork as a point of departure (refraction!) to discuss a member of your family, an important moment in your life, a memory of a local or global event, etc. Your refractory lens should be unique to you.
Consider the benefits of both types of essays—which would be most appropriate for your subject?
Write and submit your Creative Essay. Requirements:
Two-page minimum
1.5 spacing
12-point font—please no weird fonts unless it is a necessary part of your essay
Images/drawings are welcome but don’t count toward your final page count
Title your file (your essay should be titled!)
