This assignment requires you to perform a critical reading and analysis. The text you will be analyzing is the attached article written by Kenneth Waltz. An American professor of international relations, Waltz was one of the most influential scholars in the history of the field. He published this particular article in Foreign Affairs, the single-most influential journal among American foreign policy officials, bureaucrats and academics.
In this article, Waltz addresses the ongoing controversy around Iran’s quest to develop the capability to build nuclear weapons. His perspective may come as a surprise to some of you: even though Iran and the United States have been “enemies” for forty years, Waltz argues in support of Iran’s goal of developing nuclear weapons.
