1. Briefly discuss your client’s needs for this system (why do they need this). You’ll most likely have to make some educated assumptions about their needs based on your previous research. You also may have found that they use something now. If so, choose a different software that would fit their needs.

RESPOND TO CHASE-First of all, ERP Software (Enterprise Resource Planning) is a system that is used by e-commerce businesses that manages all of the information, data, and resources that are involved within a company’s operations of an integrated computer system. My client, Nike, is in need of a good ERP software for many reasons. ERP systems can be costly; however, they have many unique features and benefits that make them a necessity for many e-commerce businesses, especially for one as big as my client Nike. Of course, as I explained ERP systems can be a major investment at first but over time for a big company like Nike, the return on investment can be substantial. One way that ERP can save Nike money is that it unifies all of the computer systems into one, so for example, it helps employees utilize time more effectively because all of the company’s data is easier to find when it is in one centralized database (O’Shaughnessy, 2019). ERP systems can also offer better analytics, strengthen productivity, enhance customer service and satisfaction, boost inventory monitoring, etc.
For my client, Nike, I have come to the conclusion that Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP system would be the best investment to more effectively run their e-commerce business. Nike currently uses SAP S/4 HANA, but Microsoft Dynamics 365 is very similar to that ERP system, and I believe Microsoft even offers some features that will be more beneficial for Nike. Microsoft’s ERP system will allow Nike to grow bigger and more efficiently, it will help meet customer needs and expectations better, and it is also very updated and more compatible with today’s new technologies. One of the most beneficial uses of this software system is that Microsoft Dynamic 365 can help Nike to deliver a complete, omnichannel commerce solution that connects the company’s back-office employees, in-store employees, and digital employees all in one database and it continuously will make recommendations to the company and employees (Microsoft Corporation, 2022). This system will also save Nike time and resources by cutting down on the amount of information that employees have to manually enter into the system and Microsoft Dynamic 365 will actually automate these daily tasks, therefore, employees won’t have to waste time doing these things and dealing with finances as much. Nike will also benefit a substantial amount from this ERP system as it will offer them a much simpler and modern way of tracking employee performances and the system will actually notify the company of any HR issues before they even happen.

‌RESPOND TO MATTHEW-My client, Walmart, currently uses the ERP software SAP S/4HANA for managing their operations and supply chain (Wilson, 2015). An enterprise resource planning system (ERP) helps businesses streamline their processes, integrate various departments, and improve overall efficiency. Walmart needs a reliable system to manage thousands of stores and online platforms. My suggestion would be to use Priority Software.
Priority software provides an easy-to-use and customizable system that simplifies operations and reduces inefficiencies, leading to cost savings (Priority Cloud ERP | Enterprise Resource Planning Software, n.d.). Walmart can use the savings to create more content and solutions for customers. By utilizing ERP software, Walmart can effectively track inventory, optimize logistics, and enhance customer satisfaction through seamless integration of their physical and digital channels. With the continuous advancements in technology, it is crucial for Walmart to stay updated with the latest ERP systems to stay competitive in the ever-evolving retail industry. RESPOND TO MATTHEW-A brand that has dealt with a security breach is Chick-fil-A. This happened in March 2023, when unusual login activity was detected (Hodgson Russ LLP, 2023). They immediately launched an investigation to determine the extent of the breach and identify any compromised data. As a precautionary measure, Chick-fil-A promptly notified their customers about the incident and implemented enhanced security measures to prevent future breaches.
If my brand were in the same situation, I would act quickly and identically to Chick-fil-A. I would start by conducting a thorough investigation to determine the scope of the breach and pinpoint any potential vulnerabilities. Additionally, I would be open and honest in my communication with my customers, giving them timely updates and recommendations on how to safeguard their personal information. Ultimately, I would work with cybersecurity experts to put strong safety measures in place that can effectively avoid future breaches.

RESPOND TO CHASE-In June of 2021 McDonald’s, which we all know is a massive company, was affected by a data breach that actually led to the exposure of private information of their customers and employees in South Korea and Taiwan (Valinsky, 2021). This data breach not only affected South Korea and Taiwan but also affected some of the McDonald’s company operations in the United States. Some of this United States data that was breached includes restaurant information, but fortunately, it did not include any highly sensitive or personal customer or employee data.
McDonald’s was able to deal with this data breach rather quickly and effectively, due to the substantial investments that they had previously made in their cybersecurity team and tools (Valinsky, 2021). Therefore, since they already had their cybersecurity up to date and ready for issues such as this data breach, McDonald’s was able to use their tools to quickly identify and contain the unauthorized activity that had gotten into their network systems. I would say that this data breach could have been way worse, but luckily Mcdonald’s was already prepared for this, which is why I believe in today’s world it is extremely important for any company with online data and files to invest in the proper cybersecurity tools needed.
