For the Core Assessment, you will be required to be at the top of Bloom’s Taxonomy, the framework professors use to design tasks and measure performance. The taxonomy has six levels (listed below). You probably already demonstrate the highest-level performance in certain areas of your academic, professional, or personal life. I would like you to demonstrate that you can transfer and apply those skills in an interdisciplinary way, and you have chosen the topic of commercial use of outer space as the subject for doing that.
For this unit’s Core Assessment discussion, think of an example in your life where you gradually learned to master a skill or complete a complicated task or project. Briefly describe the experience or situation and give short examples of each stage of the taxonomy to answer the following questions:
Basic knowledge. What type of facts did you have to learn and remember?
Understanding. How did understanding of those facts differ from simply remembering them?
Applying the learning. How did you put the knowledge to use?
Analyzing. What new things did you learn as a result of understanding and applying the knowledge? How did you troubleshoot problems or explore new areas?
Synthesizing. How did you combine information from various sources or experiences to get a “bigger picture?”
Creating and evaluating. What new product (skill, report, project, etc.) came from this process? How did you assess things after you reached this point?
