Our topic of design is
Topic: Video gaming (Esports competitions) being seen as more of a paying job rather than an extracurricular or a fun activity. Kids (and essentially teenagers and young adolescents) nowadays are utilizing video games as a form of making money, in contrast to “back in the day” where we all played video games because it was fun
Thesis: It’s an interesting concept how video gaming has developed into a sort of occupation. We don’t necessarily view this as a negative thing. It’s very old school to continue saying jobs like doctor or lawyer are the only jobs that will guarantee success. Not saying that choosing video gaming as a job is an easy way out of working towards your personal success (the likelihood of being a pro in esports is quite difficult and can be very challenging and competitive). However, video gaming shouldn’t be viewed as less of a job than other occupations. It opens up new opportunities for people and with this highly technology reliant society it stays pretty relevant to the world we see it as nowadays.
