Long essay (7-8 pages total length, could be thought of as 2 short papers):
This assignment is an opportunity for you to put significant thought into a subject/topic of your choice based on two (2) of the readings (as in 4 pages each review), in the Debbie Lewer text. THESE READINGS/ARTWORKS DO NOT NEED TO BE COMPARED or related to each other in chapter/content, though they certainly can be related to one another if you desire. Choose two readings (not entire chapters) to review.
In addition to the essay format used in class, this assignment will better prepare you for more formal written reports that are increasingly important in the corporate sector as well as the academic setting. The review of the 2 articles should keep in mind these questions/points/ structure:
* What are the main points of each article: topic, thesis statement, argument etc.?
* What supports the argument/thesis and these other points, what examples are used? PLEASE DO NOT RELY ON QUOTATIONS FROM THE TEXT, only short references please, if at all, make this your own work. Also, there is no need to use information outside the text, if you do, please footnote properly according to your discipline standard (but please be consistent).
Then choose two (2) artworks (1 image per article) NOT INCLUDED IN YOUR TEXTS but from the timeframe of the class, and address the relationship between the theories that you have read, and the practice that is presented in the objects. The discussion of the artworks should use the theories and/or ideas you get from the articles and your other course materials/textbooks. Discussion of the works you choose is also primary, not just “and here’s an example.”

For your Final Paper, you will write a 1500 word compare-and-contrast essay that investigates how two works of art from different period styles illustrate a particular theme in art.
Your comparison must focus on the artists and period styles covered in LA 120 and must include one work from a period style introduced before the Midterm Exam, and one from a period style introduced after the Midterm Exam.
It is important to choose two images that have a number of things in common as well as a number of unique aspects to compare.
Try to choose works of art that you find interesting or artists that you are interested in learning more about.
If you have trouble finding a set to compare, consult with your instructor before you submit your proposal.
You might start off with one work of art that you really know you like, and your instructor can help you select one to compare it to.

Write a 4 Page Paper explaining Titian Exhibit,
Who was Titian?
Why is he considered the Father of Modern Art? Who are some of the artists the exhibit discusses?
What was Titian’s original commission for these artworks (patron, subject matter, expectations)?
In your textbook, the authors compare Titian’s Rape of Europa to another version. What artist is compared to Titian? How do the authors describe the second version – and why? ( I have provided Pictures of the textbook)
Use Titian (Pieve di Cadore, about 1488-1576, Venice) and assess it via the Art Historical questions.

Everything is explained in the document attached. I will be sending more documentations of the selected art work from the text. I talked to my teacher about citating this text in the essay because the new online reading did not have page numbers. (Sayre, “A World of Art,” CH-16.3) is what he said.
