COMFORT PRAH: As a student of current issues in health and disease, some things I learnt from that course include the latest research findings and treatment options for various health conditions, as well as the social, economic, and political factors that impact health outcomes. Additionally, I learnt about the role of public health in preventing and addressing health issues at the community and population levels. Also, i learnt about identifying various disease and disease producing organisms, treatment options for various disease in addition to the signs and symptoms of each disease, and the impact of physical activity on chronic disease and aging.
A specific group that i did enjoy learning about was week 7 when we studied on LGBTQ+ and we watched the gender revolution film. And the death doulas was something really new to me and i enjoyed studying on that. I learnt how death doulas provide people who are dying non medical help by giving love and support to them not only providing support for the patient, but assisting the family of the patient throughout that tough time.
As a future healthcare professional, I can be empathetic among members in my community by taking the time to listen to their concerns and understanding thier unique perspectives. Additionally, I can be mindful of my own biases and strive to provide care that is respectful and culturally sensitive.
As a student, one goal before my semester begins would be to ensure that I have all the necessary materials and resources for my classes. This could include textbooks, notebooks, and any other materials that I might need to be successful in my classes.
