NO AI! NO ChatGPT! NO Cheating and Plagiarism! Respond to the question thoroughly, using at least three specific examples of works we have seen in class. Please respond to the entire question, not just individual parts of the question – you should answer parts a and b, and c. a)During the Renaissance there was a greater focus on intellectualism, and a reduced focus on religion, but there was a shift back to religion in Baroque architecture. Why? (hint: Reformation vs. Counter-Reformation) b)The Rococo, once again, had less of an emphasis on religious architecture. Why? c) And then in the 18th and 19th centuries, there is a large focus on revival styles in architecture. Discuss how the Enlightenment, revolutions, and politics played a large role in determining these revival styles.

Attached is a catalog of Johannes Vermeer’s work from Rijksmuseum’s Vermeer Show, the latest exhibit in Amsterdam (https://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/johannes-vermeer?ss=)
Study the work. Then answer the following question:
Do you believe that Vermeer used a lens or a camera obscura to help him create his masterpieces? Do you agree or disagree with the theories that Renaissance and Baroque Masters like Vermeer created many of their paintings with the help of lenses and optical devices?
Your response should be around three to four paragraphs, prepared in Microsoft Word, double-spaced, and uploaded. Please cite your research sources in MLA format. For example, to cite an Internet article:

I have added an MLA template created in Microsoft Word, so you can see the format and use it for your paper.

This week we are going to explore the UNESCO Conventions. While this might seem a bit boring, the international laws are a key factor in repatriations of cultural patrimony, looting, and war booty (aka “protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict”). We will be using these laws to discuss looted art/artifacts in Museums and then specifically art stolen by the Nazis during WW2.
You will need to write at least 350 words about the two UNESCO Conventions I have attached (Regulations for the Execution of the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.pdf and Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property.pdf) and why they are important.
In paragraph(s) form,
– generally describe what is UNESCO,
– how each convention came about
– what each covers, and
– how these Conventions further efforts to decolonize our museums.
– Use the 1983 Antiquities Market article (1983 AntiquitiesMarket.pdf) to help give context to the UNESCO Conventions with an example. You should cite at least one example from the article or peruse the web to find an article on your own to demonstrate the conventions in use with the return/preservation of cultural property as it relates to our exploration of decolonization.

Write an abstract of your research paper which contains the working title of your paper, your research question, thesis statement and a narrative of how you will develop your narrative or argument. Upload a document which will contain the abstract with a working list of images or works that you will use to contextualize your work of art (color, with full captions, one ), and a provisional bibliography of print resources (books, articles in Chicago style). Save all in one document in PDF for the upload. Both will be graded and count 10% towards your final grade.
PLEASE USE trust websites and some that i linked for example books, articles JSTOR which are mainly art history websites DONT CHANGE THE RESEARCH QUESTION HOWEVER YOU CAN CHANGE THE THESIS STATEMENT if there is anything your not sure about please ask as i dont have much of time for revision .

A formal analysis is a detailed descriiption of the “formal” qualities of an artwork. This exercise requires a long and sustained observation and descriiption of the art piece’s individual formal elements, such as subject, composition, pose, proportions, lines, space, texture, light and shadow, size, color, mood. A formal analysis assumes that a work of art has a meaning intended by the artist, and that this meaning can be ascertained by studying the relationships between the elements of the work. To aid in writing a formal analysis, you should think as if you were describing the work of art to someone who has never seen it before, so as to have a complete mental picture of what the work looks like. Yet, the formal analysis is more than just a descriiption of the work. It should also include a thesis statement that reflects your conclusions about the work. The thesis statement may, in general, answer a question like these: What do I think is the meaning of this work? What is the message that this work or artist sends to the viewer? What is this work all about? The thesis statement is an important element. It sets the tone for the entire paper, and sets it apart from being a merely descriiptive paper.
It is important to remember that your interest here is strictly formal; NO RESEARCH IS TO BE USED IN THIS PAPER. In other words, you are strictly relying on your ability to visually ‘read’ a work of art and make interpretations about it based on your analysis of it. Please use descriiptive language and adjectives to describe your work. Begin with a general descriiption of the work, and then move on to the more specific elements.

For your first project you will be creating a PowerPoint presentation that can be understood through reading text and viewing slides as visuals.
The topic of your presentation will be an International Repatriation request that you find in the
news, obviously not the Benin Bronzes or the Parthenon Marbles (but it could be other items
originating from Nigeria or Greece). Ideally, this will be a request that is in the process or just
recently happened. Please avoid any Nazi Era items as we will thoroughly cover this topic
later. We will also be covering NAGPRA and Native American repatriations as a unit so please
make sure that your topic is not from Native Americans in the USA requesting back items from
an American Museum.
Your project will be to investigate the origin of the objects (site or a cultural group that the
object/objects were taken from). You will need to find images of the original site and images of
what is being requested (or at least good descriptions of the objects). You will need to
investigate the terms of how the objects were taken/acquired, when they were taken/acquired,
and who was responsible for the taking/acquisition. Where are the objects now (find the
repository) and get any images you can. Who is requesting the objects back and where would
they go? (Again, get any images you can.) Based on your investigation, should the request be
honored and the repatriation carried through?
You will put this all into a short presentation (written out it should be approximately 350
(minimum) to 500 words (max of 750) with a minimum of 6 slides (the most you should need
would be 12 slides). Remember to record where you are getting your images from and cite
your sources at the end. Be as clear, concise, and informative as you can.

Instructions: 1. Analyze the artwork discuss how the artist addresses concepts of globalization and/or functions as an agent of change. Consider the subject and content of the work as well as matters of style. The artwork may be from any time period or geographical location. [Any artwork that depicts influence of cultural interaction/transformation/border-crossing will serve as an appropriate example]. Write a double spaced two-page analysis. Please cite any sources using CHICAGO MANUAL OF STYLE!
2. Chicago Notes and Bibliography at the end
3. Artwork i have chosen is: Yinka Shonibare CBE : “Flower Power”
Flower Power unravels the complex history of the fabric, from its original conception based on Indonesian design, to its introduction to the African colonies in the 19th century, and its re-appropriation as a symbol of Black power and African independence in the 1960s.
Central to the exhibition is Woman Shooting Cherry Blossom (2019), a new work by Shonibare tracing the spread of the Edwardian dress in Dutch-wax fabric around the globe, reflecting the 19th century’s globalised economy as well as the predominance of colonialism in this era. The cherry blossom shooting out of the rifle represents the postcolonial hybridisation of female identities emerging from the historical confines of Meiji Japan.
