The PowerPoint Presenter Project: Then & Now
Develop a PowerPoint Presentation to help us appreciate some aspect/theme of a particular Harlem Renaissance artist’s work in detail and compare/contrast to a contemporary Black artist’s work in order to trace themes and track differences in treatment of significant topics over the last 100 years. NOTE: This is also your fail-safe project. If your movie or your Wikipedia venture fails spectacularly, you can still use your images and ideas to put together this PowerPoint project.
Your goals:
Introduce us to a theme in a Harlem Renaissance artist’s work and a contemporary Black artist’s work (e.g., later than the year 2000).
Develop a PowerPoint presentation that includes high quality images of the artwork (including close ups and details) as well as auxiliary mark-ups (such as horizon lines, compositional shapes, etc.)
Your job is to provide a meditation on the way that the treatment of some theme or issue has changed in Black representation over the last 100 years.
Include a minimum of 25 slides, including a title slide and a Works Cited slide.
Record and/or type specific and analytic narration of your discussion of each slide.
Be sure to model excellent MLA documentation practices.
