The purpose of the “Document Analysis” assignments is to help you to practice making evidence based arguments about history. There is a brief introduction to each prompt. Chose a topic that interests you. Take time to carefully study each of the sources given, keeping in mind what you might want to argue and sources that support your argument. Then write.
Please submit a powerpoint with the following 6 slides:
Slide 1: Thesis Statement
Slide 2: Evidence #1
Slide 3: Evidence #2
Slide 4: Evidence #3
Slide 5: Conclusion
Slide 6: Sources Citation
Focus your analysis on the content, which needs to include a clear thesis statement, evidence and facts that support the thesis, proper citation and a conclusion that summarizes your argument.
The first slide should clearly state your position and 2-3 points you intend to discuss as support for your position. The slides that follow should be a discussion of your main points and should include an analysis (an explanation of how and why these points support your position) of the facts and referencing of the sources. Be sure to cite your references, from the prompt and the course text. The last paragraph (the conclusion) should be a summation of the points that support your position.

In what way were the lives of minority or disenfranchised groups altered from 1900-1945?
In what way did World War II specifically change the lives of these minority or disenfranchised groups?
Your answer should include specific examples from three of the following groups (women, African-Americans, Mexican-Americans, American-Indians, European immigrant populations, the LGBTQ community, Asian Americans) and should explain what it was about the time period between 1900-1945 that fundamentally altered their lives.
A piece of advice:
Outline your paper based on either 3 specific themes/ideas (e.g. political, social, cultural, economic, etc.) you think that each of these groups experienced OR Outline your paper based on the 3 groups that you have picked and have each body paragraph be one of those groups.
Sources: You can use any of the follow sources for your assignment. However, these are really just meant to get you started.
You are strongly encouraged to conduct your own outside research, but please make sure they are reliable sources (e.g. not blogs, not WIkipedia entries or personal websites, etc.)
Strong sources include primary sources (such as letters or documents written during the time period, oral history interviews, etc. ) or secondary sources (scholarly work that historians have written about regarding the topic.
