Students will construct a paper about a social phenomena or topic of interest. This is a two-part
assignment:
1) proposal 2) paper
There are a number of ways to approach a research paper or sociological
analysis. Your paper can be exploratory,
explanatory, descriptive, or evaluative. You may also
choose other approaches, such as, examining the relationship between two (or more) sociological
concepts; you may also choose to conduct an experiment or research study. In other words, you
have the freedom and latitude to use creativity in your approach. Please use the rubric on the
reverse as a guide to producing a respectable and scholarly paper.
Here are the standard requirements: Typed, double-spaced, 6-8-pages minimum, APA or
MLA format (cover page and reference page do not count towards the minimum page
requirement).
THE PROPOSAL is a model one-page
submission that will describe your project. It can be
prepared in outline form with bullet points. An example is
posted on modules.
Sociology is all around us and in our everyday life. Remember, that your opinion must be
supported with fact.
