The discussion paper presents, explains, and evaluates
a current or ongoing issue in clinical psychology. The issue selected for discussion must derive
from the readings or lectures, but should extend the discussion beyond the
information contained within them. (I will attach my powerpoint, which is the lecture)
Submitted papers must be 6-8 pages in length and must
be formatted, referenced, styled, and written according to the current edition
of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. An
abstract is not required for this assignment, nor will one count toward the
total page length of the paper.
The body of the discussion paper (i.e., the portion of
the paper excluding the title and reference pages) should be generally
formatted into five sections:
A general introduction to the selected issue,
including its definition and its specific importance as identified by you;
A
detailed review of the relationship between the issue and the specific
importance you have identified (citing previous literature);
A detailed review
of commonly available perspectives on the issue and its relationship to the
area of importance that you have selected (citing previous literature);
Your
own rational or empirical evaluation of these perspectives;
A summary
recommendation on a perspective or course of action others should adopt on the
issue.
