In essay 2, you are asked to demonstrate the development in your learning across the semester.
The essay is divided into two parts.
Part 1 should be written in an essay format, with an introduction, body and conclusion. This essay shows your developing understanding of theories of human development and diversity, drawing on material from throughout the Unit of Study.
In this part, you should locate an example of messages about development from your own experience (eg an advertisement you have seen) and discuss how human development is being framed or understood. The response should demonstrate learning from feedback received in Essay 1.
Using two different theories from the ones you used in Essay 1 will be viewed favourably, as it demonstrates the breadth of your knowledge.
Part 2 consists of a 500-word reflection on how the knowledge gained in this Unit of Study will guide your future practice, with a focus on how it will inform your communication and approaches to working with people across diverse social contexts.
Word limits: Part 1 1,000 words +/- 10% (900-1100 words); Part 2 500 words +/- 10% (450-550 words)
First person is acceptable, and should be used in the reflection (Part 2).
The reference list and in-text citations should use APA6th or APA7th. The reference list is not included in the word count. In-text citations are included in the word count.
