Writing Options
All choices should total between 500-1000 words. Each has different additional requirements–see below:
Fan Fiction that uses
the same characters that are in the novel and chooses a new era, a new setting, or changes the ages of the characters to further explore issues raised in the novel–500-1250 words (or combinations of short stories, poems, or plays that equal this word count).
This would include a 1-2 page discussion of how your fan fiction reflects themes, characters, etc in your novel.
Write an article which incorporates an interview with an expert on your author or the author him/herself (or themselves).
This can be done via email, video call or phone so that you can take notes and record the responses accurately.
In the article, include some reference to how the book is written, its American themes and impact of the book.
