Write a paper on one of the populations covered in this course or a related topic (cleared with me in advance).
I would like you to write about the history of treatment for a population of your choice, how it has evolved
over the years, and how it is today (e.g. history of sex offender treatment, policy changes, current popular
treatments). Your paper will summarize the relevant research related to the issue by highlighting and
critiquing strengths and weaknesses in treatment types. Next, you must explain how treatment of this
population is structured within a forensic facility as compared to a community-based program. You must
use empirical evidence support your facts and opinions. Lastly, you will conclude by summarizing current
barriers in treatment and discuss how to overcome them within a forensic context. You should pick
population that has existing peer-reviewed literature pertaining to treatment and choose a distinct issue so
that you are able to provide a comprehensive review of the topic while staying within the page limit. You
will be graded on the quality of your historical analysis, evaluation of the treatment’s strengths and
weaknesses, summarization of barriers to successful treatment, and use/integration of empirical information
in your argument.
