The annotated bibliography assignment is a mini-assignment comprised of a detailed summary
and evaluation of an assigned course reading, which in your case is titled, “New Standards and Old Inequalities: School Reform and the Education of African American Students.” You will annotate this assigned reading. Include each of the following in your bibliography:
1. A complete citation in MLA documentation style.
2. A concise yet objective summary of the content and scope of the text.
3. An evaluation of the relevance of this text and the relevance of ideas presented in this
text.
Annotated bibliographies are due the same day in which the assigned reading is discussed in
class. You will submit a hard copy of your work to me at the start of class, and you will upload a
copy of your work to the Dropbox on Beachboard (this is due prior to the start of class). Late
submissions will not be accepted.
This assignment should be typed, single-spaced, 2 – 3 pages in length, and carefully edited. I have uploaded all files of the reading.
