Step 2: Due Sun.
– Read 2 formal outlines attached below
By Sun, write a 100-word paragraph to each student telling them what you believe was strong and what you think could be better about their outline, which is their proposed Research Paper structure.
Step 2 Help: How to compliment and critique peers’ outlines
If you turned in your Research Paper Outline by the due date last night (no late work because Canvas has already assigned everyone peer work to review), thank you, but also PLEASE don’t forget to comment on your two peers’ work by Sun. It’s your last opportunity to help others out if they’re headed in the wrong direction for a 2000ish word essay. What you’re looking for in their outline is pretty basic:
Does the thesis answer the prompt question (Do the benefits of enhancing humans through science outweigh the negatives?)?
Do they have a solid 2-6-point preview of reasons for their answer/thesis?
Do they have topic sentences that introduce each paragraph point but also allude to the thesis?
Do they have some idea of what kind of support they’re going to include (make suggestions on examples they could use and suggestions on any relevant class readings for certain points)?
Did you phrase your feedback so that your recommendations are politely put?
Do your two classmates, at the very least, have a simple outline form (see above for “Simple Outline”)?
I. Introduction
A. Hook/s and transition into statement of relevancy
B. State thesis and 2-6-point preview of points/reasons

Second Body Paragraph

C. Explain how they relate to your thesis
Third Body Paragraph

B. Support this argument, or explain why the counterargument doesn’t work: data, facts, examples
C. Explain how they relate to your thesis
(There may be many more supporting paragraphs)
Conclusion
Highlight all main points
B. Reiterate your thesis in new words and new sentence structure
