Part 1: First, please watch ONE of the following videos located in week 1: Kimberly Noble: How Does Family Income Affect Child Brain Development? or Annie Murphy Paul: What we learn before we’re born. Next, Please identify which video you watched and discuss what role you think that stress may have on human development in utero. More sepcifically, do you think the stress of poverty, and/or racism and discrimination may negatively impact the development of a baby in the womb? Why or why not?
Part 2: For the second part of this discussion, please review the The Child Trends Report State of Babies 2021 posted under this week’s Multimedia Resources tab. The report addresses why there are disparities in maternal and child health in the United States and what those disparities are. In a separate paragraph, please discuss at least one way racism drives disparities in maternal and child health.
