Hi there,
Essay Title:
Hard Work or Good Fortune: Does Circumstance of Birth Determine Career Success
Introduction:
I am a year 12 student (17 years old) who goes to a good school in London. As part of my school’s curriculum, I have to do an ‘Extended Project Qualification” (EPQ) course. Throughout the term I have been scoring A’s and A*’s in my reports (through my own work). Based on this, you may consider me a ‘good writer’ (for my age atleast). (To get a proper idea of my level and style, please read the first PDF attachment below (titled: Charles B-L – Hard Work or Good Fortune_ Does Circumstance of Birth Determine Career Success – Literature Review).
The requirement for this EPQ course is that I write a 10,000 word essay on a topic of my choosing before January 2023. The essay is to be comprised of two sections; a literature review and a discussion. I have already written a 4800 word literature review. But I have not yet written a discussion, and I’m not planning to because I want you to do it for me.
Request:
Based on my essay title, I would like you to write a 5000 word essay discussion. The first shared document (titled: Charles B-L – Hard Work or Good Fortune_ Does Circumstance of Birth Determine Career Success – Literature Review) is a copy of my literature review. Read this and you will learn a lot more about my style, and my views about the topic. Overall I believe that success is possible for people who aren’t born in backwards and war-ravaged countries. People who have had a good education and are smarter/talented will find career success easier to achieve however, in the long-term, anyone who consistently works hard will surpass those who rely on talent. Meanwhile those who have both natural ability (intelligence, charisma et.c) and work hard are almost guaranteed to lead a successful career.
if you are wondering what I mean by ‘success’, read the introduction of my literature review.
I want you to structure it into 6 sections (similar to the lit. review below):
1)Talent, 2)Race, 3)Gender, 4)Place of Birth, 5)Household income, 6)Other factors*
*for other factors, talk about how conditions of foetal devlopment can affect one’s future and any other factors not previously mentioned that you think are valid
This document will also give you a lot of insight on the research that I have personally made. I also want to make it clear that this essay is NOT an economics paper, economics is just the closest subject I could find that relates to this topic. Of course, feel free to talk about it from an economic standpoint as that would probably make the essay better, just don’t use lots of economics jargon and theory).
Below I have included a bibliography containing all the sources I have previously used. I have used a DOUBLE ASTERISK (**) to indicate what sources you MUST talk about, the rest is up to you. Feel free the other sources and maybe some of your own if tjey help you in your writing. If you can’t access a source that I have marked as **, (e.g. a book) then just ignore it.
Please make sure to use atleast 5 case studies (I have a couple of sources on Oprah Winfrey)
Below are some sources that were central to my literature review. Some are them are only accessible via a JSTOR paid subscription (which I assume you have), but I have sent them as a pdf just in case. I am aware that it’s not good to share paywall files to other people, so I imagine I have to ask you to not go around sharing these documents with other people.
I wish you good luck and success!
