For this assignment, you are to view a work (full length recommended) by a choreographer/performer and dance genre/styles suggested below in depth and respond to the following questions in few sentences. Your own insights should take up about one third of your responses accompanied by any quotes with citations. The emphasis should on developing your own critical insights on the dances and the styles with understanding of historical background of the dance styles as well as main characteristics that shape the aesthetics of the dance style. The reader should be able to understand both the main points of your writing and your thoughts and viewpoints on them.

1. Chose one choreographer/performer to view sample works by them from a dance genre suggested below:

2. Find at least 3 “credible” articles and/or reviews on each of the choreographer and/or the works aside from some “non-credible” resources that you choose to use. The paper should include appropriate citation and bibliography with a style of your choice. Additionally, find at least an example of a dance for each choreographer/dance company and view them.
* Note: At least one of the articles for each should be an academic/scholarly journal.
Assignment- Questionnaires
Respond to the following set of questions.
1. How is dance used to make statement/s in this artist’s sample work(i.e. provide the name of the work)? For instance, how does the dance embody and integrate socio-cultural, political, communal ideas? What are some choreographic methods used to convey such ideas?
2. What are the choreographer/artist’ main objectives behind the dance/dancing?
3. What is the main artistic philosophy of the choreographer/dancer and how is that reflected on his/her work?
4. Find an image or section in the dance that you find interesting that you think is related to the choreographer’s intent and comment on it as you describe what you see.

6. What defines the work of the artist/choreographer based on the research and how does it represent dance as an art form?
