The paper will need to be based on an arguable thesis. This means you will need to consider as a thesis topic something about the chosen work that is debatable (in other words, a topic which may lend itself to different interpretations). A good place to start thinking about these may be your discussion posts. An arguable thesis attempts to defend a controversial idea or theory about the work.This is a research paper, it will be required that the paper cite at least 5 sources. Of these, at least three must be scholarly sources, meaning they must be peer reviewed, vetted sources. These can include sources from the library databases, Alabama Virtual Library, JSTOR, or scholarly journals. Once you have met the minimum requirement of 3 scholarly sources, the remaining two sources can be any source of your choosing (however, you should still avoid using Wikipedia, Schmoop, or similar generalized web sources).
The minimum length will be 5 pages (this may include the Works Cited page). MLA format should be adhered to. Meticulous documentation, both in-text and via the Works Cited page, will be a requirement and a substantial percentage of the grade.
