Volunteering is a good way of not only marketing yourself in a professional setting, but it also provides valuable experience in a field that could be new to you, or that you seek to gain experience. Hannanas, J.& Olivo, Y. (2018) Volunteering aligns with Walden’s emphasis on social change because it contributes to the decrease of social inequalities that exist in our communities. Walden University (2021) For example In my county there are many shelters for abused women, homeless, addicts, and individuals suffering from different mental health conditions by volunteering in any of those places you can provide needed services to the community which in turn contributes to closing the gap in healthcare disparities.
