Hi, The assignment is to write a persuasive email based on a news article and prepare a 30-second elevator pitch based on it. I was thinking of writing about the massive quitting by employees and companies struggling to staff but I am open to ideas, of course. 1.) Persuasive Email Based on News Article Make sure that you use an email format (subject line, salutation, call-to-action or next steps, and closing). • Choose an issue (business, political, technology etc.) from a recent (the last two months) news article (e.g. Wall Street Journal, New York Times, The Economist, Business Insider, trade journal etc.), which you think will have the greatest impact on business in the coming year. Choose a topic that has interest for you or something that you might like to learn more about. • Write a persuasive email (limit 300 words, double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman) to your boss at ABC Consulting in which you: 1. Write a compelling subject line (not: Important or Please Read or, worst of all, a blank subject line.) 2. Summarize the article in your own words. You need to be able to paraphrase and summarize 3. Persuade your boss that this issue is going to have the greatest impact on business in the coming year. 4. Include a link to the article in the body of the email to make it easier for your boss to read. 5. Close with an “ask” or “next steps” that is clear and actionable (What do you want the reader to do when they finish reading the email?) 2.)
