Write an essay explaining why college matters to you or additional topics. (3-4 pages, 20pts.)
Using your own ideas and experiences and those of the two essays we’ve just read explain why college matters, or why it doesn’t.
I originally assigned you to write on the topic “Why College Matters (or doesn’t).” You may still use that topic. I suggest you read the two assigned essay first, so you will have more to think about and quote if needed. I am extending the topic because of the broad class discussions we’ve been having about water, climate, and equity. If you feel passionately inspired by anything you have read or heard in this class, you may write on that topic instead.
Either way, the essay should be 4 pages. These essays can be personal or more general, but they should have a supported argument. Think about a “they say, I say” component and a “why it matters” and “who cares”. 15 points.
