In this assignment, students will evaluate their personal media habits and reflect how they may have changed as a result of digital distribution.
Students will evaluate how these changes have affected the entertainment media publishing and distribution industry.
Students will evaluate how these changes might affect distribution strategies and revenue models.

Project Specifications
Reflect on how your personal media consumption habits changed in recent years as a result of digital distribution. For example, do you read fewer “physical” books? Regarding newspapers and magazines, do you now mostly read online content or hard copies? Do you buy fewer CDs, preferring instead to purchase “albums” (or just tracks!) from an online store such as iTunes?
With that in mind, what do your media consumption habits say about “the big picture” of publishing and distribution within various branches of the entertainment industry? Look ahead and consider the future of media distribution. In a few years, do you think companies will be relying solely on digital distribution? Will corporations such as Barnes & Noble continue to have physical “brick and mortar” locations or will they exist only on the Web? Explain.
In today’s culture, physical media (newspapers, books, DVDs, etc.) are increasingly migrating to online formats. Think about how this might affect—or is already affecting—distribution strategies and revenue models within various branches of the entertainment industry.
