This assignment requires you to propose an IT initiative that addresses a business need, and deliver a compelling presentation tailored to a non-technical audience.
The initiative must be targeted to the same organisation Tata Consultancy Services and informed by the strategic planning and technology optimisation reports.
must include the following major topics:
Overview and Goals: Clearly explain the problem, need, or opportunity that this initiative aims to address for the organisation. This should be well justified with reference to the findings of your prior reports on the organisation.
Solution description: Clearly explain what the initiative will involve (i.e. what will be built or modified) but avoid straying into details that would be better left to be discovered/clarified by the project team.
Business Process Changes: Clearly identify the most important business process that will be most strongly effected by the initiative . Your slides for this should include “as is” and “to be” business process diagrams.
Capability Impact: Clearly identify which business capabilities would be impacted by the initiative (positively and negatively), and clearly explain what the impacts are. Your slides for this should reference the capability map developed in your prior reports.
Stakeholders: Clearly identify who will be impacted by the initiative, and who needs to be involved or informed in order to carry it out. Your slides for this should include a stakeholder interest-influence matrix.
Risks: Outline the major risks of both undertaking the initiative, and not undertaking the initiative. What could go wrong either way? For the former, what can be done to mitigate these risks?
My idea is to focus on the reduction of the carbon footprint of the organisation.

The initiative would take place by making changes in four business activities
An appointed manager would be responsible for analysing the organisation’s impact on the environment and developing strategies like the following to reduce the carbon footprint.
At work, Energy: Replacing and updating to ENERGY STAR certifies equipment such as computers, copiers, printers, certain IoT devices, lightning, heating, cooling equipment and other appliances.
Change the IT infrastructure to accommodate virtual meetings to find savings in time, cost and this would also increase productivity. It would be a better alternative to travelling to the location for a meeting that can be arranged online instead. Switch to renewable energy sources. i.e., If the servers are hosted externally, consider the costs and how much fossil fuel is spent to keep them running.
Use big data analytics to track energy consumption in its facilities
Try to reduce overall energy use.
Change the type of solutions are provided to clients and opt for sustainable solutions wherever possible
Change the way any kind of travel arrangements are made for business as this is the most carbon-producing activity within an organisation. Have an app that would track the carbon footprint of each employee at work and home as well. This would help analyse the choices we make.
Offer greener commutes.
Getting involved in environmentally friendly projects
Educate employees on this.
How will these changes address the problem or realise the opportunity?
Measuring the organisation’s carbon footprint would help to realise where the organisation stands and which areas to prioritize.
