The final project is a complete greenhouse gas inventory report for a public or private entity (the client) to be defined by the
student (in consultation with the instructor) during the course. Students are to serve as a consultant to their client. The report will consist of a paper that presents the methodology employed and the analysis results. Successful reports will articulate methodologies used for data acquisition and GHG emissions calculations while reporting final results clearly and effectively. The report
should be written with the client as the prime audience – this is the principal deliverable you will be providing your client.
The greenhouse gas inventory report should include, but is not limited to the following:
1. Client description
2. Client-consultant (student) relationship description (i.e., how you know the client/how you established a relationship)
3. GHG protocol(s) used
4. Business goal served by GHG inventory
5. Definition of boundaries
6. Identification of stakeholders (e.g., employees, customers, etc.)
7. Defined scopes
8. Identified GHG emission sources
9. Selected emission factors – including electricity emission factor
10. Process used to collect activity data
11. Tools and calculations used to report emissions
12. Identification of and justification for assumptions and estimates, if used
13. GHG emission analysis results
14. Graphic representations of the results and comparisons
15. Identification of opportunities for energy efficiency, innovation, and risk management, these must be based on inventory results and underlying data
16. Moving forward – future goals (e.g., benchmarking and baseline)
17. Conclusion, to include lessons learned from conducting inventory
18. Summary table showing activity data and GHG emissions for each source
Client information will be given soon.
