Your paper should utilize 5 to 6 sources at least (this includes primary, secondary, and tertiary sources).
Please choose from one of the following prompts:

Explore one of the themes developed in our reader,A Celestial Omnibus(mystery, doubt, evil, the supernatural, or reconciliation), by exploring and comparing and contrasting how that theme is developed in two of the stories (only). What role does that theme play in Christian faith and how is that role explored in the two stories in a way that helps guide us toward a stronger faith?
Explore the concept of “nihilism” (the rejection of all religious and moral principles; the belief that life is meaningless)inThe Sunset Limited. How is the concept of nihilism explored in novel and is this a good way in which to order one’s life (specifically, White’s view in the story)?
Explore the concept of being our brothers’/sisters’ keepers inThe Sunset Limited. What does that concept mean in the bible and how is that concept explored inThe Sunset Limited? Should we be our brothers’/sisters’ keepers? How do we understand this theme within The Sunset Limited?
Is Harry Potter (or some other “popular” novel, memoir, or series) literature? This fundamentally explores the question of what is literature OR what belongs in the “literary canon”? This will require you to choose a particular book that we did not read this semester (a book that tells a story of some sort) that many people may not consider “literary” and use it as an example of what scholars say constitutes literature. In other words, what makes a written work “literary” and how does the particular book you chose to examine either fit that concept of “literature” or not? Pull specific evidence/examples from your chosen book to make your case about what and what does not constitute “literature,” according to scholars = do you agree with those scholars?
Make sure to include all of the following:
What do “they” say: rather than classmates, explore what a scholar(s) says about the story OR literary element (setting, theme, character, etc.) or explore an idea from within one of the stories or the bookThe Sunset Limitedas it relates to one of the suggested prompts above.
What do “I say” in response to what “they (scholars) say” that better helps us understand the literature. Include evidence from primary, secondary, and tertiary sources to support your thesis (“I Say”).
Anticipate an objection to your main argument (add a naysayer).
Explanation of “Who cares?” and “So what?”
Use other necessary metacommentary as well as pointing words and transitions. (For example: “Readers should not misinterpret me. What I mean is____________”)
Avoid “dropping in” quotations. Make sure to integrate evidence well by setting up your evidence with surrounding context.
