Remember, this is NOT a news story. These are found in the Opinion or Editorial section. You can use the online version of the publication. Things I want you to look for: What is the slant of your paper and how does that show up in the editorial or column you are reading? What words and phrases indicate that this is the opinion of the paper or columnist and not an objective news piece where no opinion is given (or shouldn’t be given). The slant of the paper can even be found in the headline at the top of the piece. Does yours? Do you agree with their ideas or not? Has it changed the way you think about the issue they are talking about? Have they swayed you to their side or did you always think this way? Do they make their point clearly or are they talking in circles? Would you be (more likely/less likely/no change) to read this publication in the future based on their opinion? Finally, how do you feel after reading it?
1.5 pages, double-spaced, 10 pt. normal font, NO spaces between paragraphs. No citations other than indicating what website you used, at the end of the piece. Next FRIDAY,  Oct. 1, (4 p.m.)
