Question 1.
We turn part of our focus for this week’s discussion to the various claims and background on our planet’s polar regions. After reviewing the links/articles below, discuss something that stood out to you in reading these and why it stood out to you? What do you find to be some of the commonalities and distinctions when looking at the political geographies of the Arctic and Antarctica? Do you think that countries will honor past treaties and agreements about these regions as we move into the future – why or why not?

Question 2.
You may write about any country listed within the flag website I provided except for the U.S. Make sure that you are writing about the flag of a country as opposed to a region or dependency. For example, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland are technically not independent countries. They all form parts of what is collectively known as the United Kingdom. If you want to verify a country, check out this site: http://www.state.gov/s/inr/rls/4250.htm (Links to an external site.). This is a comprehensive list of the 195 countries in the world recognized by the U.S. Department of State.
Make the title of your discussion topic the two countries you will be writing about (i.e. – Tonga and Zimbabwe)
(New Zealand and Egypt)
