The author discusses a number of different ways to deal with these statues.
Can art be transformed?
The meanings of some works of art works may be murky, or completely abstract.  Sometimes the artist is portraying something specific; at other times a work of art takes on a specific meaning, whether the creator intended it or not.
Currently there is a debate as to what to do with statues that celebrate confederate heroes.  Should they just be removed?  Destroyed? Put in special museums?
Maybe most importantly, do you think that a piece of art (or piece of music for that matter) can be transformed to have a new meaning?  Can art evolve and change?  Can things that once represented something terrible, come to have a new beauty?
