The purpose of this assignment is to identify stakeholders related to a given public health problem and describe strategies for engaging these individuals or groups in meaningful prevention efforts.
You are required to write a short paper summarizing a selected health topic which addresses each of the required prompts. Select one of the topics below and answers each of the following questions to complete your assignment.
Topics:
Opioid overdose deaths in Cuyahoga County, Ohio
HIV transmission in Baltimore, Maryland
Maternal mortality in Louisiana
Physical inactivity in Wichita County, Texas
Questions:
Briefly, what is the public health problem? Who does it impact and what is the scope and magnitude of the problem? What are some of the determinants or predictors of this problem? (1-2 paragraphs)
Identify and describe 1 preventive intervention strategy. What is the strategy and how will it prevent the selected public health problem? (1 paragraph)
Identify 2 stakeholders who may helpful in the planning, implementation, or evaluation of the identified intervention strategy. Who are these stakeholders and why would it be helpful for them to be involved? What role would they play? How would you approach these stakeholders and why would they want to be involved in the intervention?
Students are expected to use professional tone/language, as well as proper spelling, grammar, and mechanics.The paper should be saved as a Microsoft Word document or a pdf. It should be 2-3 pages (excluding reference list), double-spaced, 1” margins, and a legible font. All major assertions must be supported with citations in APA format and an APA-formatted reference list should accompany the assignment.
