This paper will be an overall review of the role of agriculture in mythology. You will be graded on how well you indicate the influence of agriculture on the mythology of the culture you pick. While you do not have to completely rewrite the two previous papers, you need to have an introductory paragraph to the combined paper, a transition as you go from the Ag to the Myth of a region, and have a concluding paragraph, tying all together. At least 6 references need to be included for the final paper (3 from agriculture paper, 3 from mythology paper).
You will choose a culture (excluding Greek or Roman, Massai, Baiga) to do a more in-depth review. Be sure to pick a specific culture, for instance do not choose China but pick a specific culture in China. You can pick other cultures in Africa and India that we did not discuss in depth. Alternatively pick a culture you may be interested in or want to learn more about. Any culture in the world is acceptable. Your culture must contain agriculture aspects. You are free to choose any culture you are interested in. During the first third of the course you will be required to write a 2-page paper, using 1.5 spacing, font Times New Roman 12 pt. and 1inch margins, on the agriculture (not modern) of the culture you choose worth 25 pts. During the second third of the course you will be required to write another 2-page paper on the mythology of the same culture you chose for agriculture also worth 25 pts. A final paper, 4 pages, same format, will be due the last day of class. This paper will be an overall review of the role of agriculture in mythology of your culture. If you have done well on the first two papers, this paper can be accomplished by combining the first two papers and an introduction paragraph, a transition paragraph between the two papers, and a wrap up summary paragraph. You will be graded on how well you indicate the influence of agriculture on the mythology of the culture you pick. The paper will be worth 50 points. Papers turned in two days after the due date will receive half points.
