Are we more critical of Madame Bovary because she is a woman? Is she usurping (taking over) the masculine role? Is it a feminist work before its time? Give your impressions of the work but at the same time be critical. Your grade will be based on the length (2 pages, double spaced—12 pt) and the content. Your grade will NOT be as good if you simply give a summary of the stories. Be analytical, be critical, don’t just summarize the plot and the characters–I read the stories and I know what they are all about.
