look at slide 15 through 57 to get the experimental design you will used for the outline.
Please review lecture 6 and use the lecture on single case design and experimental design to address the following outline. Below is an example of how to complete the outline per the final proposal outline
Please complete the methods section in an outline form. Below is further explanation of the methods section of the paper. The methods section needs to provide detail on the following areas: Methodology (you must propose an outcome evaluation)
Evaluation Approach/Model: state what an outcome evaluation is, state what you are evaluating (I am evaluating the effectiveness of Case management in relation to helping homeless adults obtain stable housing? ),
what will be the intervention you are evaluating (eg. high school drop out program, in-patient therapy, etc.)
Research Design: what is the specific design (single subject – ABAB time series or experimental – soleman four group). Please reference the design as it is not common knowledge (refer to your Research 1 text or Rubin and Babbie’s Research text).
Research/Evaluation Questions: Sate you specific research questions: what is the effectiveness of Case management in relation to helping homeless adults obtain stable housing?
Hypothesis: Clearly state the hypothesis, Conceptualize and operationalize the IV and DV.
Sample: Clearly state your sample approach and technique – non probability (snowball, convenience, etc.) or probability (simple random, systematic random, etc.), state your rationale for the sampling technique, how you will recruit your sample, where will you recruit, your sample size
Data Collection Technique: Explain how you will collect data, what approach and technique (quantitative or qualitative, survey, face to face interview, focus groups etc.), consent procedures, ethical dilemmas or concerns.
Measures (conceptuatlization – defining and operationalization – measuring) Explain what measures (scale) you will you use to assess the outcome (eg.depression, drop out rate, substance abuse). How are you defining the outcome (eg. depression).
Data Analysis: What is the standard you’ve set to determine significance (eg. lowering high school drop out from 40% to 10%, or having 80% of participants stay drug free for 90 days after treatment)
Data reporting: Who will you report your findings to (eg. funders, policy makers, etc.)
Also remember to address threats to internal validity and reliability in your strengths and limitation section in addition to the strengths and limitations of your design, sample, data collection technique, etc
Below is an example:
-Outcome evaluation
-Single subject
-A/B time series
-Research Question
-What is the effectiveness of CBT program in reducing Drug Use (marijuana) among Muslim males between 35 – 40 years of age.
-IV – CBT
-DV – Drug Use
-Data Collection – interview and biological sample
-Concpetualization – define – Drug use is being defined as daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and life use of marijuana.
-Operationalization – Data will be using the WHO – survey on drug use as well urinalysis. Tthe -WHO survey will be administered in an interview and urinalysis will be completed by an nurse practitioner at the agency. Lab results will be available within 10 min.
-Sample – non-probability – convenience. N = 15.
-Ethical guidelines: confidentiality, voluntary participation, social emotional distress
