Analyze the role and impact of documentation within a healthcare organization. SCENARIO:
You are the operations manager for a private pediatric practice that has recently implemented electronic health records (EHR). The staff is adjusting to completing documentation electronically, but they often fail to complete certain sections properly. To ensure compliance with various standards and regulations, you have been tasked with developing training materials around the importance of documentation. The training must include the importance of relevant data, regulations impacting documentation, expectations for quality EHR standards, and how regulations influence these standards. DIRECTIONS: As the operations manager, you are responsible for mentoring and training new and existing employees. The focus of this training should be the importance of identifying relevant data, regulations impacting documentation, expectations for quality EHR standards, and how regulations influence these standards. To facilitate a deeper understanding of your organization’s expectations, you will develop a healthcare documentation training presentation (in Prezi, PowerPoint, Google Slides, or a comparable presentation tool) that you will share with all staff to emphasize the essential aspects of accurate documentation in their daily practices.
This presentation should include the following elements:
Introductory slide(s) describing why it is essential to be compliant in your EHR practices
A minimum of two slides highlighting clinical quality measures (CQM) as they pertain to measuring and tracking the quality of healthcare services
A minimum of three slides highlighting best practices for maintaining HIPAA compliance pertaining to EHR
A minimum of two slides highlighting the critical elements of a sample patient record
A minimum of one slide paying specific attention to commonly made errors (i.e., signatures, personal patient information, date of birth, missing general content such as discharge summary or orders, etc.).
A slide summarizing the most important information you want your audience to remember
Speaker notes for each slide that you create

Your 10- to 12-slide presentation should be created in Prezi, PowerPoint, Google Slides, or a comparable presentation tool. Be sure to include speaker notes so that your reviewer knows what you would say if you were actually giving the presentation.
